PRESS AWARD WINNERS

Throughout most of its history, the YMCA Youth Legislature has included its own press corps.

While student television reporters produced their own news show for several years, print reporters have chronicled the proceedings of the Youth Legislature since its first Session. The official newspaper of YMCA Youth Legislature, Tomorrow Today, is written and published by these student reporters and photographers.

To become a reporter of Youth Legislature, a student from an affiliated Tri-Hi-Y, Hi-Y or Government Club must obtain and complete an application, supplied by the State YMCA Youth Legislature Office. Prospective reporters should be prepared to submit a sample typewritten story on a current issue or person, along with the submission of the application.

Reporters are expected to attend Pre-Youth, Electoral College and Officers' Training. Reporters cannot participate in the legislative program as Delegates. Persons seeking the post of "Editor" of Tomorrow Today must have served on the newspaper staff in the past.

The newspaper staff is announced each year at Pre-Legislative Training.

Over the years, certain student reporters have been honored for their exceptional reportage during Sessions of the YMCA Youth Legislature. The Press Award, when given, is based on the recommendation of the newspaper Advisor.
